Feast of Grandparents and Elderly celebrated in Bangalore St Joseph - Little Sisters of the Poor!

This year in India, this feast is celebrated in our Homes in India, either on Sunday, 23rd of July or on 26th of July, the feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mother Mary and the grandparents of Jesus Christ.

On Sunday 23rd, we celebrated the Birthdays in July of our Residents. They were six of them. In view of the world day of Elderly persons and grandparents day, our Parish Priest, Father Selvakumar brought the Catechism children from 8th to 10th Std around 26 students to our Home. The Children wished our 120 Residents with a flower, served them coffee and snacks, spent time in talking to them. It was a wonderful experience for them. The eldest in the Home is Mrs. Violet Jackson, who is 103 years old. It was she who entertained all by her singing. It was her honor to cut the cake with others who celebrated their birthdays. The cake was distributed to all. Then the Parish Priest distributed the gifts to those who celebrated their birthdays. The Parish clergy wished, blessed and prayed for our Residents.

Mrs. Violet Jackson, 103 years old! Always young at heart and energetic! Sings beautifully!
