The surprise visit of Nuncio of India & Nepal to the Little Sisters of the Poor in Bangalore.

His Excellency the Most Reverend Leopoldo Girelli, was born in Predore, Province of Bergamo, Italy, on 13 March 1953.

He was ordained a Priest on 17 June 1978 and incardinated in the diocese of Bergamo.

He graduated in Theology and to prepare for the diplomatic service, he completed the course of study at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1984.

He has previously served as the Nuncio to Indonesia, East Timor, Singapore, Malasia, Vietnam, Israel, Jerusalem, Palestine and Cyprus before being appointed as the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal.

He currently serves the Indian Church and its communion of three individual Churches the Latin Church, the Syro-Malabar Church and the Syro-Malankara Church.

The Nuncio visited Karnataka for the first time on April 23rd and 24th to Bangalore. As the Archbishop Emeritus, Rev. Ignatius Pinto lives with us the Nuncio visited him on 24th April evening. Profiting of this occasion the Residents and the Little Sisters offered their wishes to him. In his few words he said, "whatever you address to me is not for me it is for Holy Father himself. It was a joyful moment for everyone.
