An Encounter with the Elderly!
In Coonoor, the Little Sisters organised a program for the young girls “An encounter with the elderly” on 30th April 2023, Good shepherd Sunday. Twenty girls participated. They arrived at 10.30.am. After a short refreshment, they were given an introduction about our congregation, mission and apostolate. A short video was screened on our vocation “Joy of giving”. Fr.Rozario, the parish priest, spoke to them about different vocations of life and how to choose them. After the talk, the young girls visited our Residents in their respective dining rooms; helped to serve lunch and interacted with them. After the lunch break the Sisters had given them a questionnaire to discuss. One of the questions was "what do they expect from a religious?" Few of them wrote that they should live an exemplary life. They should be sincere, kind and gentle. Then they prayed a decade of the Rosary in the chapel. It was offered for their intention. A book mark with the words of Jesus on one side and the sayings of Saint Jeanne Jugan on the other side was distributed to each one of them as a souvenir of this program. After the tea break , they dispersed. Few of them showed interest and promised us that they will come back to do little service. We will continue to pray for all these girls that God may give them the courage to say ‘Yes’ to him.
