On June 19th 2025, the Little Sisters of the Poor at Chennai honoured and felicitated Doctor Chandran who practiced his medical profession near the elderly from 1975. With hearts full of gratitude the Little Sisters of the Poor and their Residents celebrated the 50th anniversary of his dedication and love for the elderly.
For Doctor Chandran, this year marks 50 years of his skilled and compassionate care as an ENT specialist and 50th wedding anniversary of a faithful, loving and grace-filled marriage. We praise and thank God for all these blessings and we ask him to continue to keep him in his loving care and protection.
Dr. Chandran's connection with our Home began long before his professional role here. As a young boy, he would accompany his beloved mother, stopping to pray devoutly at the feet of St. Joseph, a tradition he continues today. These early visits, filled with faith and reverence, planted seeds of love and compassion in his heart that have grown ever since.
He began his service here on June 6, 1976, answering a call from his aunt, Sister Marie Bernard, a Little Sister of the Poor, and a deeper calling from the Lord to care for the elderly with tenderness and devotion.
Since then, he has brought healing to our cherished residents and sisters through his skilled hands and medical knowledge. His heartfelt attention, love, concern, and care have made him not only a physician but also a friend and father to us. Regardless of the weather, whether in times of good health or distress, he consistently shows up—steadfast, humble, and selfless.
Moreover, he has journeyed with love and fidelity alongside his beloved wife, affectionately known as Sushi.
Dr. Chandran’s life is a living testament to commitment, compassion, patience, and grace. His work and example embody the very values that the Little Sisters of the Poor, hold dear.
The Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was solemnly presided by Bishop Lawrence Pius Dorairaj, the auxiliary bishop of Madras and Mylapore, concelebrated by six priests.
In remembrance of his 50 years of service to the Home, doctor Chandran donated a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a statue of Infant Jesus. After the Eucharist the bishop blessed these two statues.
As Doctor Chandran marks 50 years of achievements in his career, vocation, and marriage, the Little Sisters of the Poor pray for the Lord's blessings and rewards upon him and his loved ones for his lasting legacy as a devoted spouse, a caring father, and a compassionate doctor and friend to the Little Sisters and residents.
Heartfelt gratitude to dear Doctor Chandran!
