Celebrated 100 Years of Life and Wisdom on 23rd May 2026: Mr. Chinnappa Gounder's Journey at Little Sisters of the Poor Mysore.

The Little Sisters of the Poor, Mysore, joyfully celebrated the remarkable 100th birthday of one of its beloved Residents, Mr. Chinnappa Gounder. The event was filled with love, gratitude, prayer, and community spirit. The occasion brought together Residents, benefactors, volunteers, well-wishers, clergy, and dignitaries to honor a century of life, faith, resilience, and cherished memories.



The celebration commenced with a solemn Holy Mass at 7:00 a.m., presided over by Most Rev. Bishop Emeritus Thomas Anthony Vazhapilly, assisted by Rev. Fr. Alfred John Mendonca, Retired Vicar General of Mysore, and Rev. Fr. Thomas Roxen Barros, Administrator and Principal of St. Joseph’s Hospital and College of Nursing.

After the liturgical celebration, everyone proceeded to the dining hall, where Mr. Chinnappa Gounder was felicitated and presented with gifts. He, in turn, distributed memorable takeaway gifts to all his companions. Breakfast was then served to all present, concluding the morning program in a spirit of joy and fellowship.



 A special highlight of the evening was the cake-cutting ceremony, during which Mr. Gounder was honored by his daughter-in-law and grandson with a shawl and garland as tokens of love and respect.





The evening celebration began at 4:00 p.m. in the multipurpose hall with a vibrant cultural program presented by the students of St. Joseph’s Nursing College, Mysore.



The joyful performances brought great delight to the Residents and guests alike. Snacks and cake were distributed to all the Residents and guests, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. The presence of friends, benefactors, Associates, and employees brought immense happiness to the valiant centenarian. The entire event was covered by a local newspaper and the television channel Sri Hara, making this extraordinary milestone a memorable witness to God’s blessings and the compassionate ministry of the Little Sisters of the Poor.



The centenary celebration of Mr. Chinnappa Gounder will remain a cherished memory for the Home and for all who participated, reflecting the beauty of a life well lived and the enduring mission of love, dignity, and service upheld by the Little Sisters of the Poor.
