Mother General Maria del Monte Auxiliadora and Mother Assistant Marie Rose arrived at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Jabalpur at 9 pm on February 2nd, 2025. The official welcome was given to them on February 3rd at 11 am. The employees, traditionally dressed in red sarees, escorted the visitors from the gate with dance to the tune of a traditional 'Adivasi' song.
At noon, Mother General and her assistant distributed souvenir gifts to the Residents in their dining rooms.
On February 6th, before the residents lunch, our visitors were taken to the garden to plant mango trees behind the chapel. Each one planted a mango tree and watered them. Mother General admired the garden with a variety of vegetables and fruits cultivated by one of our Residents. The Resident was very happy and humbly accepted Mother General's thanks and appreciation for his cultivation and interest invested.
On February 7th, around 9.45 am as the morning sun shone brightly, the community, all the Residents including those in wheelchairs and employees gathered outside, near the gate to say 'good bye' to Mother General and her assistant. As she passed by they waved to her with the ribbon sticks they had and an employee brought a white dove in his hand and gave it to Mother General. She carefully took it in her hands and released the little dove in the air as everybody clapped their hands.
