On October 1st, we had a “World Elders Day” in our home, organized by Mrs. Poongothai, a member of the Social Welfare Department at Erode and the Collector, Shri. C. Kathiravan, IAS. The elderly from 5 Homes for the Aged were invited to attend this World Elders Day at our Home. At. 4 p.m. the Mobile Hospital doctors and staffs came to conduct medical camp, many of elderly profited to do their check up .

Soon after the medical camp there was a cultural program by the children and the residents who came from the different home for the Aged. All were waiting to welcome Collector Mr. Kathiravan . About 6 p.m. the collector arrived. He was garlanded by the Residents. The collector spoke very well about the home and he said I don’t want to have any old aged home in my territory, because I prefer that each family should take care of their own parents. Even if they are poor they can share what they have. And he promised to do the Voter ID cards for us as well as Aaadhar Cards for those who don’t have. Before collector left the home he distributed bed sheets to everyone. There after the dinner was served for all.

Every year the elderly Residents of Erode go to the Basilica of our Lady of the Holy Rosary to honor our Blessed Mother Mary. This year too they awaited eagerly for this pilgrimage. On 7th October, the feast of our Lady of the Rosary was chosen to visit the Basilica.

Thanks to the generosity of one of our benefactors who provided the bus for our Residents they were able to make it. The Lunch was provided by another benefactor in a hall which was not far from the church. We are grateful to our friends who are always eager to make our elderly people happy and contented. We ask God to bless each one of them abundantly!
