Pope Francis was ordained a priest 50 years ago on Dec. 13, 1969, by the emeritus archbishop of Cordoba, Ramón José Castellano, in the chapel of the Jesuit-run Colegio Maximo on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, four days before his 33rd birthday. On the occasion of our Holy Father Pope Francis' Golden Jubilee of his priestly Ordination, we, the Little Sisters of the Poor of Mangalore had a solemn mass with an entrance procession with the big banner of his picture. Soon after mass we had the joy of having our new vehicle blessed.
As Pope Francis loves the poor, we had decided to invite the poor to our Home in order to share our joy with them. Therefore, we, along with few friends of our parish visited Snehalaya ‘a ’Psycho social rehabilitation center’’ in Manjeshwar run by Brother Joseph Crasta, aged 48, who is taking care of 220 people found on the road (neglected & abandoned) with the sole motto of love, care, &service.
We had invited them to be with us on December 13, 2019. It was wonderful to see the smile on their faces when we conducted housie game for them and distributed gifts as we interacted with them. Mr. Cyril catered the lunch for them. Cecilia with few of her friends helped us to serve them. To see our invitees enjoy their meal made us happy. An encounter with Brother Joseph was really emotional, such a simple man with deep love for the poor. May God bless him and his family.
