On 13th March 2019 the Centre for Education and Empowerment of the Marginalized -CEEMA in Erode, Tamil Nadu awared a few women for the extraordinary service to the marginalised of the Society on the occasion of the Internaional Women's Day.
Sister Lucy, Superior of the Little Sisters of the Poor at Erode was one of the chosen one among them.
Fr. . Pushpanathan Director of CEEMA and Mrs. C. Barbara Lydia Advocate & Notary public presented the Award to the awardees.
Sister Cecilia Patricia - Superior of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Kolkata received an award for the reorganization of the pivotal role of women in our society from Open Arms Educational & Charitable Trust. Six women were chosen for this award, among them were three religious and three lay persons from different religions. Each one of them was felicitated with a bouquet of flowers, honoured with a garland and was presented with a momentum. Mr. Mukul Sinha, (District Governor) Chief Guest of the day spoke about the role of women in the society: he said that he cannot let pass this day without thinking of and thanking his own mother, sister and wife who helped him to be what he is today. One of the dignitaries in his speech also mentioned an African proverb “If you educate a man you educate an individual but if you educate a woman you educate a nation”. Mrs. Lovina khan, Chairperson of women’s empowerment thanked and appreciated the contribution of these awardees to the development of society. This programme concluded with an invitation to sing the“Showers of Blessings” by.Rev. Fr. Dominic Gomes V.G of the Archdiocese of Calcutta and a well-known efficient musician.
