New Foundation in  Maharashtra, India

History says that Sawantwadi was formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Sawantwadi, ruled by the Sawant Bhonsle royal clan of the Marathas.  Today Sawantwadi is a taluka in the Sindhudurg district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It lies in the Konkan region near Maharashtra's border with Goa.  The people blend with the peace of natural beauty. Mostly fisher folk and farmers who live simple lives yet busy earning an honorable living. While the younger generation is moving out to bigger cities in search of greener pastures, the elderly are left to their fate of poverty and loneliness.

Mr & Mrs Pednakar

Mother Provincial Mary Clara, Mother Hilda and Sr Maria Virginia with Mr & Mrs. Pednakar!

Our Little Sisters in Mumbai were instrumental in realizing the dream of Mr & Mrs Pednakar. A builder - promoter, Mr. Sashikant Vinayak Pednakar, loves to serve the poor. Mrs. Vandhana Pednakar, his wife had a vision, in which she felt that God called them to build a Home for the Aged. Hence, from the profit of his business he constructed a Home for the Aged under the name of the Trust ‘ Jevan Sandhya’.

The proposed Home for the Aged in Sawantwadi.

The Little Sisters were introduced to Mr. & Mrs Pednakar by the Bishp.  They were ivited to visit our Home in Mumbai and were moved to the core at their maiden visit to our Home and then onwards had their hearts set to gift us the Home which was built for the glory of God.The long legal procedure started with the help of our legal advisors and lawyers.  A bit of renovation work needs to be undertaken. We raise our hearts in thanksgiving to God for the seed of charity sown in the heart of these generous benefactors of ours and confide all their intentions to St. Joseph, Head of the Holy Family.
